Medical , Engg admissions at MANIPAL
Dec 26, 2009 : Applications have been invited for the Entrance Test for Admission to the Under Graduate Medical/Engineering/Pharmacy Courses at Manipal University.
The Courses offered are (i) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): 4 1/2 years plus 1 year compulsory rotating internship (ii) Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS): 5 years (iii) Bachelor of Engineering (BE): 4 years with an option of joining the integrated MBA course after the completion of second year (iv) Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm): 4 years with an option of joining the integrated MBA course after the completion of second year and (v) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD): 5 years plus 1 year internship.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian Citizen. Only those whose date of birth falls on or before 31.12.93 are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS/ BPharm/PharmD courses. Applicant should have a Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with the following combinations/marks for the different courses.
MBBS/BDS: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
BE: Physics, Mathematics and English with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology/Statistics/Engineering Drawing as optional subjects with minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects.
BPharm: Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology as optional subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional subjects.
PharmD: Physics, Chemistry and English with Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects/DPharm or any other equivalent qualification approved by Pharmacy Council of India with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
Admissions will be based on rank in the All India EPSI National Admission Test (ENAT 2010). Applicant has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together in ENAT 2010, to be considered for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses. Few seats are reserved for MBBS for candidates selected and sponsored by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka, Bangalore.
ENAT 2010: ENAT is a computer based test in which the candidate sits in front of the computer. Questions are presented on the monitor and the candidate submits answers by using the mouse. ENAT 2010 will have questions based on the 10+2 syllabus followed by major 10+2 Boards/Universities. The detailed syllabus can be downloaded by clicking here. There are 2 groups for this test. Group I, applicable to
MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD courses, is a test of 2 ½ hours duration with 240 multiple choice, objective type questions having approximately 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 80 from Biology and 40 from English & General Aptitude.
Group II, applicable to BE/BPharm/PharmD courses, is also of 2 ½ hours duration and will consist of 240 multiple choice objective type questions, with 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 80 from Mathematics and 40 from English & General Aptitude.
ENAT, to be held between 1.04.2010 and 20.05.2010 will be conducted at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ernakulam, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Manipal, Mangalore, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Varanasi, Vijayawada.
Applicant may choose a Test centre, date and slot of choice by using the ENAT booking system during the time period specified. Booking of slots for MBBS, BDS, BPharm, PharmD (Biology) can be done between 18.03.2010 and 27.03.2010 and that for BE, BPharm, PharmD (Maths), between 19.03.2010 and 28.03.2010 at prescibed centres.
Applicant will have to provide the Application form number, ENAT booking password and other data while logging into the ENAT booking system. e-hall ticket will not be issued without booking a slot through ENAT booking system. Based on the marks obtained in ENAT 2010, separate merit list for MBBS, BDS, BE, BPharm and PharmD courses, will be declared on or before 25.05.10 in the website.

Classes will commence for MBBS on 02.08.10, for BDS on 26.07.10, for BE on 15.07.10 and for BPharm / PharmD on 20.07.10. Candidates should print the application form, complete it in all respects and send it to Admissions Office along with the Demand Draft inclusive of Application fee of Rs. 500/- and Entrance test fee of Rs. 1000/-.
The application material can also be obtained by Post from Director, Admissions, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka-576104, by sending a request along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in the name of Manipal University, payable at Manipal or Udupi.
Candidates applying under both Group I (MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD) and Group II (BE/BPharm/PharmD) must submit 2 separate application forms. Those desirous of applying for BPharm/PharmD courses can opt for the course under Group I or Group II or both.
The last date for receipt of the completed application form at Manipal University along with the DD/Challan for the applicable amount drawn on ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal or Udupi is 13.03.2010.
