Online GATE examinations held successfully

Kanpur, Feb 08, 2010 : Around 1,700 candidates appeared for a glitch-free online Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in two streams at the seven IITs, besides Bangalore's Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Online tests for Textile Engineering and Fibre Science and Mining Engineering were simultaneously held yesterday at eight centres, IIT-Kanpur Director Sanjay Govind Dhande said.

Apprehensions about the test, especially after technical glitches in the online CAT exam, were laid to rest after 212 students completed the test without any problems at two centres here, Dhande said. The remaining 19 papers of GATE would be held at the fixed centres on February 14. The IIT-Kanpur Director also said enhanced use of online tests would now take place after yesterday's successful completion of the entrance examination.
