Pilot License Course at IGRUA

Feb 28, 2010 : Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, Fursatganj Airfield, Raebareli District, Uttar Pradesh-229 302, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admission to the 15 month long (may get extended) Ab-initio to CPL Course [Ground and flying training for issue of CPL with Multi–engine endorsement and Instrument Rating (IR) on Multi-engine Aircraft] commencing in September, 2010. Of the 100 seats available, 50, 15, 8 and 27 are reserved for General, SC, ST and OBC categories respectively. Selected candidates will be inducted in batches every three months starting September, 2010.   

Applicant should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with Physics, Mathematics & English as main subjects. Applicant should have passed in English at 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics (General category) and  50% (SC/ST/OBC). For General category applicants possessing higher qualification with Mathematics and Physics as subjects, minimum qualifying aggregate marks in Mathematics & Physics at 10+2 will be 50%. Minimum age limit is 17 years at the time of joining the course.

The Training fee is Rs.24.60 Lakhs payable in four installments.

Hostel accommodation within the campus on twin sharing basis (Separate for Boys & Girls) and Messing is provided on monthly charges of approximately Rs. 5000/-.

Selection process consists of Written Test, Pilot Aptitude Test (WOMBAT), Viva and Interview. The Written test will be held from 10.30 am onwards on 16th May, 2010 (Sunday)  at (i) Delhi (ii) Hyderabad (iii) Kolkatta  (iv) Lucknow (v) Mumbai. Applicant may choose two centers to be given as first and second choices. Questions will be objective type and from General English, Mathematics, Physics & Reasoning (10+2 level).

Intimation regarding examination centre will be sent by Courier/Post directly to the candidates. If the same is not received by 10th May 2010, applicant may contact IGRUA Office on telephone (0535 - 2441144, 2441150, 2441151, 2441528,  2441529, 2441147; IGRUA Delhi Office - 011- 24615370, 24655796). Information regarding Roll number and examination center will be available on IGRUA website also by 30th April 2010.

A total of 300 candidates will be shortlisted based on merit of the written examination. The cutoff marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be 5% less from the marks secured by the last candidate in the General category. In case SC/ST and OBC candidates do not qualify even after 5% relaxation in the Entrance Written test, the seats would be de-reserved for General Category. Result of Written Test and schedule of Pilot Aptitude Test/ Interviews will be available at IGRUA website at http://www.igrua.gov.in/   after 24th May 2010.

The Pilot Aptitude Test (WOMBAT) will be conducted at Delhi, for candidates from Delhi and neighboring states from 1st June 2010. For other candidates, it will be held at IGRUA, Raebareli from 21st June, 2010. The minimum qualifying marks for Pilot Aptitude Test is 70%. No relaxation in marks will be given for SC/ST/OBC Candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test.

Interview and viva for all successful candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test will be conducted at IGRUA, Raebareli from 21st June, 2010. Candidates will be required to produce (i)  Proof of Date of Birth (such as 10th Class certificate) (ii) 10+2 Mark sheet (iii) Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC Candidates (iv) A Certificate that the OBC Candidate does not fall under Creamy layer, all in original, at the time of interview.

SC/ST candidates will be reimbursed 2nd Class to and fro rail fare on production of tickets from their registered address to Raebareli to appear for Pilot Aptitude Test/Interview.

The following documents are required along with the application form:-

(i) Self Attested Copy of Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC) and the Certificate from a competent authority indicating that the OBC candidate does not fall under creamy layer as per Govt. of India guidelines.

(ii) Three self-attested recent passport size photographs ( One pasted on form and two enclosed )

(iii) Application fee Rs. 3,500/- by Demand Draft in favour of ‘Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi’ drawn on any Nationalized/Scheduled  Bank, payable at Delhi (SC/ST candidates are exempted for payment of application fee).

Completed applications should reach ‘The Director, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, Fursatganj Airfield,  Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh- 229302, latest by 8th April 2010.
