March 01, 2010 : It is another season of Entrance Examinations as far as those completing the Plus Two course are concerned. It is the culmination of a process for which candidates have been preparing for two or more years. The major Entrance Examinations in the country are the All India Engineering Entrance Examination attended by almost 10 lakh students and the All India Pre- Medical/Pre- Dental Entrance Examination attended by about 1.5 laks students. There are Entrances conducted by the State Governments, by Institutions like the IITs, AIIMS, by Central Universities as well as Deemed Universities. The number of Entrance Examinations has gone to such an extent that more than one entrance are scheduled for a single day in some cases.
Here the information related to the major Entrance Examination conducted in the country during April, May and June are compiled in the order in which it is scheduled. Candidates are requested to look at this only for guidance. They may visit the websites specified for the latest information related to the specified examinations.
Manipal ENAT between April 1 and May 20, 2010
EPSI National Admission Test (ENAT 2010), the Entrance Test for Admission to the Under Graduate Medical/Engineering/Pharmacy Courses at Manipal University will be held between April 1 and May 20, 2010. ENAT is a computer based test in which the candidate sits in front of the computer.
Questions are presented on the monitor and the candidate submits answers by using the mouse. There are 2 groups for this test. Group I, applicable to MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD courses, is a test of 2 ½ hours duration with 240 multiple choice, objective type questions having approximately 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 80 from Biology and 40 from English & General Aptitude. Applicant has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together in ENAT 2010, to be considered for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses. Group II, applicable to BE/BPharm/PharmD courses, is also of 2 ½ hours duration and will consist of 240 multiple choice objective type questions, with 60 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 80 from Mathematics and 40 from English & General Aptitude.
Candidates applying under both Group I (MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD) and Group II (BE/ BPharm /PharmD) must submit 2 separate application forms. Those desirous of applying for BPharm/PharmD courses can opt for the course under Group I or Group II or both. The last date for receipt of the completed application form at Manipal University along with the DD/Challan for the applicable amount drawn on ‘Manipal University’ payable at Manipal or Udupi is 13.03.2010.

AIPMT Preliminary on April 3, 2010
The Preliminary Examination of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination for filling up the 15% merit seats for MBBS/BDS in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India coming within the purview of the Examinations will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 3rd April, 2010 (Saturday).
The Preliminary Examination will consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) with four options including a single correct answer, to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
Each item carries 4 marks. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the Answer Sheet. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.

The Indian Institute of Space Science Technology (IIST) Admission Test 2010 (ISAT 2010) for admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech) at Indian Institute of Space Science Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, will be held on 16th April, 2010. BITSAT from May 10 to June 10, 2010
‘BITS Admission Test-2010’ (BITSAT-2010), a Computer based Online Test for admission to the Integrated First Degree programmes at Pilani Campus, Goa Campus, and Hyderabad Campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, will be held between 10th May 2010 and 10th June 2010. BITSAT-2010 will be of 3-hour duration (without break) and will consist of 150 objective type (multiple choice questions) in four parts, namely Physics (Part I-40 questions), Chemistry (Part II-40 questions), English Proficiency (15 questions) and Logical Reasoning (10 questions) (Part III) and Mathematics (Part IV-45 questions). Each question will have four answers, of which only one will be correct. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1mark). No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. Candidate can skip a question. But the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer. There is no time limit for individual parts of the test.
The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics only, with four questions from each part. Once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the 150 questions answered earlier.
At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. AIPMT Final on May 16, 2010
The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Final Examination, for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination, consisting of one paper containing 120 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology), with four options with single correct answer, to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only, will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 16th May, 2010 (Sunday).
Each item carries 4 marks. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the Answer Sheet. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked. General candidates need 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the competitive examination. For PH it is 45% and for SC/ST/OBC it is 40%.
