PG Diploma in Journalism at Asian College
Kochi, March 09, 2010 : The Asian College of Journalism, Chennai has invited applications from candidates for admission to its Post Graduate Diploma course in Journalism. Graduates in any discipline and students awaiting their degree examination results are eligible to apply for admission to the ACJ.
Enrolled students should provide their degree certificate to the Registrar within the first week of commencement of classes. Students awaiting their examination results should provide their degree certificate latest by the end of February 2011.
Examination
After a careful assessment of applications, short-listed candidates will take an entrance examination on May 23, 2010. The examination will be offered in Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai, New Delhi, and possibly other cities, depending on the number of applications received from a particular region.
The examination will be in two parts: (a) to test the applicant’s English language skills and facility and (b) the awareness of current affairs and general knowledge. It will also test the candidates’ writing ability and assess their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Other procedures may be prescribed for candidates from abroad.
Application Procedure
The application form may either be submitted ONLINE by entering www.asianmedia.org.in/admissions/form.asp or DOWNLOADED from www.asianmedia.org.in/admissions/Application%20Form%202010-11.pdf and completed. In either case, please make sure you send the following:
1.Demand Draft in favour of "Media Development Foundation", payable at Chennai for Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only); with your full name and address written on the back of the DD.
2. Passport sized photos to the address given below:

Candidates are required to indicate, in their completed application, the media stream they wish to specialise in. Application Form will be processed only on receipt of the Demand draft. Final Results will be announced in the third week of June 2010.
The last date for receipt of completed applications at ACJ's Chennai office is April 30, 2010.
Interview
Applicants from India who have done well in the entrance examination will be invited to an interview at the College in early June. Final results will be announced in the third week of June 2010.
Fees
Tuition fees are as follows:
• for the Television Stream: Rs. 300,000 • for the Print Stream: Rs. 250,000 • for the Radio Stream: Rs. 250,000 • for the New Media Stream: Rs. 250,000
These fees are payable in three equal instalments, according to the following schedule:
• one-third by June 22, 2010 • one-third by June 29, 2010 • one-third by July 9, 2010
Residential accommodation costs
The accommodation and food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will cost each student Rs 75,000 for the academic year. Additionally, every student opting for accommodation arranged by the college has to pay a caution deposit of Rs.5000, which will be returned, less deductions if any, at the end of the year.
Students who need residential accommodation should send an advance of Rs. 10,000/- with their first installment of tution fees. Accommodation will be offered on a first cum - first serve basis. The balance of Rs. 70,000 (inclusive of caution deposit) should be paid on or before July 9, 2010
