NDA AND NA EXAMINATION
Join National Defence Academy
March 20, 2010 : The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II), 2010, for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 126th Course and Naval Academy for 88th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing on 30th June, 2011.
Those joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 year B.Tech Course and would also be given an opportunity to join Technical Branch of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies.
The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be 335 (195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 35 for the Executive Branch of Naval Academy). A candidate is required to specify in the Application Form, the Services for which he wishes to be considered in the order of his preference.
The Examination will be held on 22nd August 2010 at Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizwal, Allahabad, Bangalooroo, Bareilly, Bhopal,Chandigarh,Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Dispur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji (Goa), Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvanathapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur and Vishakhapatnam
The Examination consists of 2 papers each of 2 ½ hours duration. Paper 1- Mathematics carries 300 marks and Paper 2 - General Ability Test carries 600 marks. Questions will be objective type. There will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective Type Question Papers. Detailed syllabus is given at http://www.upsc.gov.in/
Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1992 and not later than 1st January, 1995 are eligible.
For Army Wing of NDA, applicants should have passed 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent conducted by a State Education Board/University.
For admission to the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course of Naval Academy, applicant should have passed 12th Class of the10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board/University.
Those appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent can also apply. Applicant must be physically fit according to the physical standards as given in Commission’s Notice.
Application can be submitted off-line, in the Common Application Form of the Commission which can be purchased from designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (as per list in Appendix-III of the Notice), against payment of Rs.20/- by way of cash. Application can also be submitted online at www.upsconline.nic.in as per the instructions given there.
Examination fee of Rs.50/- is to be paid by those applying offline, (except SC/ST) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.
Those applying online have to a pay a reduced fee of Rs.25/- either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash or by using the Net Banking facility of the SBI or by using VISA/Master Debit/Credit Card.
Completed offline applications must reach ‘Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069’, by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 19th April, 2010.
In respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice, the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 26th April, 2010.
Admission to the courses will be made based on the results of the written examination followed by intelligence and personality test by the Services Selection Board for candidates who qualify in the written examination.
