Rajagiri to set up Medical College
Kochi,Dec 06,2010 : Foraying into the field of Health care and Medical Education for the first time, Rajagiri Management will be setting up a state-of-the-art hospital, a Medical College, Dental college and Nursing college with a total investment of over Rs 1000 crore.
College of Paramedical Sciences and College of Pharmacy will also be set up by the Rajagiri Group of Institutions being run by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a relgious congregation of the Syro-Catholic Church in Kerala.
The Rajagiri Health Care and Educational Project is coming up on 40 acres at Chunungumvely at nearby Aluva, masterplan of which is ready, Project Director Father Johnson Vazhapplly told reporters here.
In the first phase, a 530 bedded multi-speciality hospital will be set up at the campus at a cost of rs 260 crore which includes land cost as well. The first phase is expected to be ready by December 2012. The hospital alone would cost over rs 500 crore, he said.
The second phase will see the addition of 500-600 beds. The entire project is expected to be ready in five years time. Technical collaboration with select medical institutions in Europe, US, Canada and Australia is also in the pipeline.
Rajagiri group of institutions has various educational institutions, including an Engineering College and MBA College. On Dec 8, the foundation stone for multi-speciality hospital will be laid by Union Minister of State for Agriculture, K V Thomas.
