PG courses at BIT, Mesra

Kochi, April 25, 2012: Applications have been invited by  Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi for admission to the following postgraduate programmes of 2012-13 session :

1.  ME in Automated Manufacturing Systems, Civil Engineering, Computer Aided Analysis & Design, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Quality Engineering & Management, Software Engineering, and Space Engineering & Rocketry.

2. MPharm in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Clinical Research, and Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, MS Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance.

3. PG Diploma in Bioanalytical Techniques / Pharmacovigilance / Clinical Research / Clinical Data Management.

4. MTech in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Energy Technology, Environmental Science & Engineering, Fuels and Combustion, Information Security, Nano-Science & Nano-Technology, New Materials & Processing Technology, Polymer Science & Technology, Remote Sensing, and Scientific Computing.

5. MSc in Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Bio-Medical Instrumentation, Geo-Informatics, and Information Science at Mesra, MSc in Bio-Informatics at Kolkata and Mesra, & MSc in Information Technology at Lalpur. 

6. Master of Urban Planning (Town Planning) – MUP

7. Integrated MTech-PhD programme in Atmospheric Science & Engineering at Mesra.

1. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for ME programmes :
Candidates must hold BE / BTech / AMIE or equivalent degree in the appropriate disciplines / branches mentioned below for the respective courses. Candidates must have a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation. [Sponsored candidates must have minimum 55% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in graduation]. In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which the candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects). Candidates should preferably be GATE qualified. Non-GATE candidates may also apply.

2. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for the MPharm, MS, and PG Diploma programmes :

(i) MPharm : Candidates must hold a BPharm degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute. Candidates must have a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation. [Sponsored candidates must have minimum 55% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in graduation]. In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

(ii) MS and PG Diploma in Pharmacovigilance programmes : Candidates must hold a BPharm degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute / BTech Biotechnology / MBBS / BVSc / BDS / BAMS / MSc Life Sciences degree from a recognized University.
Candidates must have a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation / postgraduation (QE). In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation / postgraduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which the candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

(iii) PG Diploma in Bioanalytical Techniques programme : Candidates must hold a BPharm degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute / BTech Biotechnology / MBBS / BVSc / BDS / BAMS / MSc Life Sciences / MSc Analytical Chemistry / MSc Biochemistry degree from a recognized University. Candidates must have a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation / postgraduation (QE). In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation / postgraduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which the candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

(iv) Candidates must be GPAT qualified for MPharm programme in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology. Non-GPAT candidates may also apply for the MPharm programme in Clinical Research, and Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, MS Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance, Postgraduate Diploma in Bioanalytical Techniques, Pharmacovigilance.

3. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for MTech programmes :

Candidates must hold EITHER
(a) BE / BTech / AMIE / MCA / equivalent degree in the appropriate disciplines / branches mentioned below for the respective courses, with a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation / MCA. In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation / MCA will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects) OR

(b) MSc / MA degree in the appropriate disciplines / branches mentioned below for the respective courses with 55% (45% for SC/ST), after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in 10+2+3 system from a recognized University.

Candidates should preferably be GATE qualified for MTech programmes in (a) Computer Science (b) Environmental Science & Engineering (c) Fuels and Combustion (d) New Materials & Processing Technology (e) Remote Sensing and (f) Scientific Computing.

Non-GATE candidates may also apply for these programmes. They can also apply for MTech programmes in (a) Bio-Technology (b) Energy Technology (c) Information Security (d) Nano-Science & Nano-Technology and (e) Polymer Science & Technology.

Sponsored candidates must have minimum 55% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in BE / BTech or equivalent / MCA, or 50% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in MSc / MA degree in the appropriate disciplines / branches.

4. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for Master in Urban Planning (Town Planning) - MUP :
Candidates must hold EITHER 
(a) B.Arch / B.Planning or equivalent or BE in Civil Engineering with a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation. In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects), OR an
(b) MA / MSc degree in Geography, Economics, Sociology, Environmental Science, Statistics or Anthropology with 55% marks (45% for SC/ST) after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in 10+2+3 system from a recognized University. Candidates should preferably be GATE qualified. Non-GATE candidates may also apply.

Sponsored candidates must have minimum 55% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in B.Arch / B.Planning or equivalent or BE in Civil Engineering, or 50% in average (45% for SC/ ST) in MA / MSc degree in Geography, Economics, Sociology, Environmental Science, Statistics or Anthropology.

5. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for MSc programmes :
1. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India/AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education (10+2+3 system) after completing higher secondary schooling (Class 12 or equivalent).

2. Candidates with BSc / BA Honours must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in their Honours subject. Candidates of other graduate courses must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

Duly filled application along with two recent colour photographs (one pasted on the form and one attached by clip to the form), photocopies of all marksheets and certificates, and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 2000/- (Rs.1,200/- (SC/ST) candidates) (non-refundable) in favour of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi, in a stout A4 size envelope must be sent by Speedpost / Registered Post / reliable courier to the office of Dean, Admissions, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi – 835215 positively by the due date.

21-25 June, 2012

* Tentative dates for Test & Interview / Counselling for MPharm, MS and PG Diploma programmes : 2-5 July, 2012
