Admissions at NIMH, Secunderabad

Kochi, April 29, 2012: National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Manovikas Nagar, Secunderabad-500009, Andhra Pradesh has invited applications from eligible candidates (as stated against the courses, below) for admission to the following courses of Academic Year 2012-13.

1.  MPhil Special Education (MR) (1 year) :
Eligibility : MEd Special Education (MR) from recognized university with 55% in the case of general category and 50% in the case of SC/ST category.

2.  MPhil Rehabilitation Psychology (2 years) :
Eligibility : PG Degree in Psychology from a recognized university with 55% in the case of general category and 50% of pass in the case of SC/ST category.

3.  Master in Disability Rehabilitation (MDRA) (2 years) :
Eligibility : Bachelors degree or equivalent in disability rehabilitation field recognized by RCI or MCI and/or Paramedical professionals relating to rehabilitation (Physiotherapy / occupation therapy / nursing / laboratory technology) with minimum of 50% marks; or Masters degree from a recognized university in the field of Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology, Social work, Rehabilitation social work, Business Management with a minimum of 50% marks.

4.  MSc Disability Studies (EI) (2 years) :
Eligibility : Degree from a recognized university in the following courses : MBBS, BUMS, BAMS, Naturopathy, BHMS, BMR, BRS (MR), BRT, BOT, BPT, BSc (HLS), PGDEI, Masters in Child Development, MPhil in Psychology. The candidate should have secured 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree examination in case of general candidates and 45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates.

5.  PG Diploma in Early Intervention (PGDEI) (1 year) :
Eligibility : MBBS, BMR / BRS (MR) / BEd in Special Education / Masters in Child Development / Bachelor in Occupational Therapy / Bachelor in Physiotherapy/ Bachelor in Speech Therapy / Masters in Child Psy with 50% general and OBC and 40% SC/ST category.

6.  MEd Special Education (MR) (1 year) :
Eligibility : BEd Special Education (MR) or BEd general with one year diploma in special education (MR) recognized by RCI or BRS (MR) with specialization in Special Education with 50% General / PH and 40% SC/ST category.

7.  BEd Special Education (MR) (1 year) :
Eligibility : BMR or BRS (MR), BSc, BA, BCom or any degree recognized by Osmania University or equivalent with 50% general/PH and 40% SC/ST category.

8.  Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (MR) (1 year) :
Eligibility : 10+2 or equivalent with 50% for general/OBC category and 40% for SC/ST category.

9.  Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation (MR) (1 year) :
Eligibility : 10+2 or equivalent

10. Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (1 year) :
Eligibility : 10+2 or equivalent

Application forms can be obtained from the Office of Assistant Administrative Officer (TP&S), National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Manovikas Nagar, Secunderabad-500009, Andhra Pradesh in person or by post by submitting demand draft in favour of Director, NIMH, Secunderabad for the required fee.

Cost of application for MPhil in Special Education (MR), MPhil in Rehabilitation Psychology, MDRA, MSc DS (EI), PGDEI, MEd Special Education (MR), BEd Special Education (MR) is Rs 450/- for General / OBC category and Rs 350/- for SC/ST/PH category. Cost of application for DECSE (MR), DVR (MR), DCBR is Rs 150/-.
