NIT, Rourkela bags 5th rank among Indian universities
Rourkela, May 3, 2012: National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela has bagged the fifth rank among the best universities in India and 1067th rank in the world, according to a new survey conducted by a global research group.
The NIT occupied the position in web metrics ranking of world universities by Cyber metrics lab, a Spain based international research group. The web metric ranking of world universities is an initiative of the cyber metric lab, a research group belonging to the Consijo Superior de investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain, NIT sources said.
The cyber metric lab, part of CSIC is devoted to the qualitative analysis of the internet and web content specially those related to this process of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge. This is a new discipline called Cyber metric.
NIT-Rourkela Director Sunil Kumar Sarangi said the ranking of NIT was a matter of great pride and profound honour for the entire NIT family, faculty, staff, students and to all others "who helped us in our efforts to achieve this prestigious position".
