MA Programmes at National Museum Institute

Kochi, May 18, 2012: National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation & Museology National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi-110011 has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to the following MA courses of the academic session starting in August, 2012, as per the given eligibility criteria :

* MA History of Art : Seats-25. Graduation from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks. Desirable - Background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.

* MA Conservation : Seats-15.  Graduation with minimum 50% marks in any of the following subjects : Chemistry / Physics / Geology / Botany / Zoology / Computer Science / Fine Arts / History / History of Art / Architecture / Archaeology / Museology / Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.

* MA Museology : Seats-15.  BA / BSc (Honours) or BA / BSc / BFA (3 years) with minimum 50% marks in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences / Science.
Desirable - Background / PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies.

Desirable Qualifications :
Knowledge in one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian, etc.

NB :
(i) Good academic record with 50% and above marks at Graduate level is essential for admission to MA courses . Those appearing in their last semester/exam of Graduation may also apply for MA courses provided they produce the result of having passed their Graduation with requisite percentage by 31-7-2012.

(ii) Candidates seeking admission to MA courses, will have to take a written test followed by an interview. Written Test will be held in the National Museum Institute, National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi. Attested photocopies of certificates/degrees and a passport size photograph are to be enclosed along with the application form. There is no application fee for MA courses.
