Admissions at KUFOS, Cochin
Kochi, June 9, 2012: Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Cochin has invited applications for admission to Post Graduate Programmes of the Year 2012-13 at the following constituent schools:
i. School of Aquaculture and Biotechnology
ii. School of Fisheries Resource Management & Harvest Technology
iii. School of Aquatic Food Products and Technology
iv. School of Management and Entrepreneurship
COURSES AND ELIGIBILITY :
1. PhD Programme:
Masters degree in Fishery Science (MFSc) in the respective / related discipline recognized by Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 (In the case of SC/ST candidates, an OGPA of 6.5/10.0).
2. MFSc Programme:
Bachelors degree in Fisheries Science (BFSc) recognized by Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies with an OGPA of 7.0/10.0 (In the case of SC/ST candidates an OGPA of 6.5/10.0). Three year BFSc degree holders of other Universities and traditional Universities are not eligible for admission. For graduates of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, under UG regulation 2007 of Kerala Agricultural University, the minimum O.G.P.A. is 6.0 / 10.0 for General category and 5.5 / 10.0 for SC / ST category.

Application fee is applicable as under and shall be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Panangad, payable at Ernakulam:
* Masters Degree programme:
General category - Rs. 750
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (native of Kerala only) - Rs.375
* PhD programme:
General category - Rs.1000
Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (native of Kerala only) - RS.500
Duly filled application along with DD should reach the Registrar, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Panangad P.O., Kochi 682 506, Kerala on or before 30.06.2012.
The following documents should be enclosed along with the application :
a) Demand Draft for the application fee.
b) Community Certificate obtained from a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Village Officer in the case of SC/ST candidates.
c) A 'no objection Certificate' and experience certificate obtained from the controlling officer concerned in the case of in-service candidates.
d) The applicants for PhD programme may submit proposals for Research Projects in the proforma along with the application. This format is available as an MS Word document in the KUFOS website. This may be downloaded and filled in and printed on A4 size paper. The approval of the project submitted by the student will be at the discretion of the University subject to the availability of facilities. They should also furnish the details of published papers as follows:
*Original research papers
*Text books (authored or edited)
*Chapter in Text Book
*Review articles in research journals
*Popular science articles
e) Attested copies of certificates in proof of age, qualifications, mark list of qualifying examination, experience, sports activities and nativity certificate in the case of candidates from outside Kerala.
f) One self-addressed stamped envelope (worth Rs.10/-) of size 23 cm x 10 cm.
g) Certificate in support of any other reservation claimed as specified in the application to prove their claims.
h) Certificate from the head of institution to the effect that the University is recognized by the ICAR / will come under the umbrella of the ICAR in the case of candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from outside Kerala.
