June 16, 2012 : In an unexpected move the government of Kerala has increased the annual tuition fee for the 50 pc Government seats in Government Controlled and University Controlled Self financing Engineering Colleges for 2012-13 . The existing annual tuition fee in Government seats in Government/University Controlled Self financing Engineering Colleges is Rs.20000/- In the 35% Management seats in these college to be allotted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, the existing fee of Rs.65000/- will continue.
In the 15% seats to be allotted by the Management under the NRI Quota, the annual tuition fee would be Rs.1,00,000/- These seats will also carry an Interest Free Refundable Deposit of Rs.1,25,000/- There are 23 Engineering Colleges in this category with 9 under IHRD, 7 under CAPE, 2 under LBS Centre and one each under KSRTC, Continuing Education, Kerala University, MG University and Calicut University.
