PhD Admission at MG University
Kochi, July 5, 2012: MG University, Kottayam, Kerala has invited online applications for admission to PhD Courses of Academic Year 2012-13.
Eligibility for Application: A candidate who has passed the Post-graduate Examination in any discipline of Mahatma Gandhi University or of other Universities recognized as equivalent thereto securing not less than 55% marks in the aggregate shall be eligible to apply for registration for PhD For SC / ST candidates, the minimum marks required for application is 50% in the aggregate in the Postgraduate Examination. Provided, however, that MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS degree holders who have secured not less than 50% marks for their final examinations shall be eligible for registration for PhD provided further that CA qualified candidates, that is, a person whose name has been entered as a member in the Register maintained either by the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India or by the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India shall also be eligible to apply for registration for PhD When the application is made for registration at an approved Research Centre other than the University Departments, the application shall be accompanied by letters of consent from the Head of the Research Centre (The College Principal in the case of an affiliated college centre) where the applicant proposes to work as well as from the Supervising Teacher under whom he/she proposes to work.
Mode of Admission: Admission to the PhD programmes shall be made on the basis of: (a) the qualifying degree marks; (b) a written aptitude test; and (c) an interview. However, UGC-CSIR JRF candidates (and awardees of other similar Fellowship. Including the KSCST and INSPIRE Fellowships) and UGC Teacher Fellows can be admitted directly into the PhD programme. They are not required to appear in the written test and shall be accommodated against available seats, provided the Doctoral Committee is satisfied with their performance in the interview.
Application Procedure: Applications can be submitted at http://projects.mgu.ac.in/phd The online submission of applications will be closed by July 31st 2012. After the Online submission, a hard copy of the Application for Admission in the University Departments shall be sent to the Head of the Department Concerned. The hard copy of the Application for the Admission to the approved research Center shall be sent to the Registrar, MG University, P.D. Hills P.O., Kottayam - 686560.
The envelope containing the application should be super-scripted - "Application for PhD Registration - 2012".
The following shall be enclosed along with the application:
- Original Pay-in Slip of Rs.775/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Seventy Five only) towards Registration fee and cost of Application.
- Attested copy of the TC from the institution last attended.
- Attested copies of Degree Certificates of PG and MPhil
- Attested copy of the certificate in proof of having passed NET / SLET / GATE / JRF (UGC, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR / KSCSTE or other Govt. bodies).
- Attested copy of Eligibility Certificate (in the case of those who have passed the qualifying degree from Universities / Bodies outside Kerala).
- Three copies of synopsis in not less than 1000 words containing the title of the proposed work.
- Consent Letters from the Proposed Guide and Research Center (Applicable to Candidates opting Research Center other than University Departments.).
- Certificate of general Aptitude Test conducted by the MG University.
The Registration fee is to be remitted to the Mahatma Gandhi University Fund by way of Pay-in Slip at the University Cash Counter or at any of the centers of FRIENDS situated in all the districts of Kerala. Candidates can remit the Fee by way of DD payable to the Finance Officer, Mahatma Gandhi University, P.D Hills, Kottayam-686560. Fee once remitted will not be refunded or adjusted.
