AIEEE: 109 seats for Spot Round at NIT K

August 11, 2012: As many as 109 seats are available for allotment in the Engineering stream at National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, in the Spot Round.

For the Spot Round, Registration and Choice filling can be done up to 14th August, 2012. Locking of Choices, verification of certificates and fee payment at Reporting Centres only has to be done by 14th August, 2012.  The allotment will be made on 16th August, 2012.

Of the 109 seats at NIT Kozhikode, 54 are in the Open category. There are 24 seats for OBC, 11 for SC and 15 for ST. In the OP PH category there is 1 seat while in BCPH, SCPH and ST PH, there are 2, 1 and 1 seat respectively. The seats available for the different branches are as follows.

Bio Technology : Home State (HS) Quota-12, Other than HS and LD (Lakshadweep) quota (OS)- 11 (Total 23); Chemical Engineering/ Technology : 7 (HS),18 (OS) (Total- 25); Civil: 1 (HS),6 (OS) (Total- 7); Computer Science & Engineering : 5 (HS),2 (LD), 1 (OS) (Total-8); Electrical & Electronics : 2 (HS), 4 (LD) (Total-6); Electronics & Communication : 1 (HS), 4 (LD) Total-5); Engineering Physics : 8 (HS),10 (OS) (Total-18); Mechanical : 2 (LD) (Total-2); Production : 6 (HS), 9 (OS) (Total-15). Thus, a total of 42 seats are available for different branches in the Home State Quota, 12 in Laksadweep quota and 55 in Other State quota.

More seats are there in the Other State Quota (55) as compared to the seats available in the Home State quota (42) for the spot round.

The follow up action if the other state quota seats and Lakshadweep quota seats are not filled completely, is not announced so far. The possibility of merging this with the state quota seats cannot be ruled out.

In the All India Quota allotment for MBBS/BDS, the seats left vacant after the final allotments are reverted to the state quota on completion of allotments by the Centre. If this principle is followed here, the un-availed seats of Other State Category and Laksadweep should merge with the Home State seat.
