IBM partners with AP for Student Training in IT
Hyderabad, August 24, 2012: IBM Academic Initiative (AI) and Andhra Pradesh Society for Knowledge Networks (APSFKNW), Jawahar Knowledge Center (JKC), a non-profit organisation created by Andhra Pradesh government, today signed a renewal of Memorandum of Understanding to build a pool of skilled resources from across various colleges in the state. As part of the partnership, IBM will enable APSFKNW, JKC to train and certify its associates and students in technologies such as DB2, RAD and Cloud Computing.
The MoU was signed between Academic Initiative, IBM India Ms Malathi Srinivasan and APSFKNW CEO Amarnah Reddy Atmakuri in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Information Technology (IT) Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will benefit 42,000 students across 400 JKC Engineering and Degree colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said the state government was keenly, putting up all efforts to bridge the gap between government, educational Institutions and Industry. Creation of employment and building of employable industry grade skills was the major concern of the government 'We are working towards it through the Jawahar Knowledge centres', the Minister said.
The Minister said Andhra Pradesh produces around 30 per cent of engineering students passing out in India each year. Hence, these 2 lakh engineering graduates passing out each year need to be trained to make them employable. This can be achieved only through proper training, he added. Hyderabad was recognised as the only city in India which was 'livable and good' fo business, Hyderabad can boast of its connectivity worldwide and its world class infrastructure, he said.
He appealed to students and all college authorities to utilise the facilities provided by AP Society for Knowledge Networks (APSFKNW)-Jawahar Knowledge Center (JKC) through IBM Academic Initiative (AI) Training and Certification in building the lives of the students. |
