MSc-PhD programmes of NBRC
Kochi, October 4, 2012: National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Gurgaon, Haryana has invited applications for admission to PhD and Integrated MSc-PhD programmes for the year 2013.
Candidates will be selected through two different channels:
1) Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS).
2) Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2012 / GATE-2013).
Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination or their score in the GATE examination.
Eligibility
PhD (Neuroscience):
Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute / University or A minimum of four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
Only the candidates with at least 55% (for SC / ST / PH candidates, 50%) marks or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points without rounding off to determine their eligibility.
Integrated MSc-PhD (Neuroscience):
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Reservation for SC / ST / PH candidates will be followed as per Government of India rules.
Application Procedure:
1) For Candidates Appearing for JGEEBILS:
Candidates should first apply for JGEEBILS through the website: www.ncbs.res.in
For NBRC application, you will require the reference code generated while applying to JGEEBILS. After applying for JGEEBILS, submit a detailed application directly to NBRC. The application can be submitted online or by post. Online applications can be submitted at web site: www.nbrc.ac.in
Online applications will open on October 5, 2012.
Offline applicants may download the prescribed application form from the Downloads page send the completed application to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). The application form will be available from October 5, 2012.
If you have trouble downloading the application form, you may send a request to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana) for obtaining a blank application form by post.
You need to apply either online or by post. Both types of Applicants (Online / Offline) need to send a Demand Draft for the requisite amount, drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre and payable at Gurgaon or Manesar (please write your name, programme applied for and the reference code of JGEEBILS on the back side of Demand Draft). The Demand Draft should be sent by post to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122 051, Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).
Last date for receipt of the Demand Draft at NBRC is 31st December 2012.
2) For Candidates with GATE Score (GATE-2012 / GATE-2013):
These candidates should apply to NBRC with their GATE score. The application can be submitted online or by post. Online applications can be submitted at our web site: www.nbrc.ac.in

Application Fee:
The application fee for various categories of candidates applying for PhD and Integrated MSc-PhD programmes is given below.

The application fee should be submitted by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National Brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. The candidates should send the Demand Draft to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana).

Candidates Appearing for JGEEBILS:
- Application open for JGEEBILLS: 17th September 2012.
- Last date of application for JGEEBILS: 16th October 2012.
- Application opens at NBRC (www.nbrc.ac.in): 05th October 2012
- Last date for receipt of both online & offline applications along with Demand Draft, at NBRC: 31st December, 2012
Candidates Appearing for GATE (GATE-2012 / GATE-2013):
- Online Application opens for NBRC: 01st February 2013.
- Last date of application to NBRC: 31st March 2013.
- Last date for receipt of Demand Draft at NBRC is 08th April 2013.
- Candidates short-listed for the interview will be informed by end of April 2013. The interviews are likely to be held in the month of May / June 2013.
