NEET PG: State asks for more centres

Kochi,Oct 07,2012: The government of Kerala has decided to accept NEET PG scores for admission to the medical Post Graduate courses. A press release in this regard says that the prospectus for medical PG courses will be published by the Director of Medical Education with the consent of govt at appropriate time. The resposibility of counselling and admission to the above courses will rest with the Commssioner for Entrance Examinations.
Meanwhile, the state health ministry has informed the media that it had conveyed the union govt about the necessity of more exam centres in the state. At present there are only two centres for the exam. This must be increased to 5, the ministry asked. Around 6,000 students are expected to appear for the exam in Kerala. Last year it was 5617 and in the previous year 4252.The ministry asked the National Board, which is conducting the exam to allot atleast 100 computer terminals to each centre. If the additional centres are at Kozhikode,Kannur and Palakkad it will be a highly helpful to students, the ministry specified. It also asked the NBE to consider allowing the facility of re option of centres for whom the centre allotted was out of the state. |
