Haryana to provide Pre-Matric Scholarship to SC students
Chandigarh, October 15, 2012: The Haryana Government will provide monthly scholarship of Rs 900 to the day scholars and Rs 1350 to hostellers under a Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes studying in Classes IX and X. The scheme has been sponsored by the Central Government.
Stating this here today, a spokesman for the Secondary Education Department said that the scheme was approved with the objective to support parents of children belonging to Scheduled Castes for education of their wards studying in classes IX and X so that the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage, could be minimised.
He said that the students belonging to Scheduled Castes would be eligible to get benefit of the scheme.
He said that the state government was also implementing Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme to encourage meritorious students for higher education. Besides, a number of scholarship schemes for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and those living below poverty line were also being implemented to encourage students to get education. |
