Punjab invites NRIs to invest in rural schools
Chandigarh, Oct 19 2012: Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka has exhorted the NRIs to invest money for the upgradation of infrastructure of the schools in the rural areas of the state. Making an appeal to the NRI fraternity, Mr Maluka said that NRIs must recognise their duties towards their homeland.
The minister said that repair of school building, upgradation of furniture and whitewash of the school buildings were core areas where the NRIs could render their services. He said that the name of those NRIs who would donate more than Rs 3 lakh to a particular school would be inscribed on the boards outside the schools.
Mr Maluka said that he had personally made these appeals to the NRIs during his recent visit to Canada. He said that several NRIs had assured their full cooperation in respect of cash and kind for the up-gradation of schools in Punjab. |
