School girls in Rajasthan to get bicycles
Jaipur, Oct 31 2012: The Rajasthan government has decided to provide bicycles to school girls staying in hostels in tribal areas of the state, an official said today. Initially, about 100 cycles will be made available in hostels for tribal girl students.
The decision was taken yesterday in a meeting chaired by Tribal Area Development Minister Mahendrajeet Singh. The facility will be made available to girls who are studying in schools which are atleast three kms away from their respective hostels.
The issue of lack of transport to commute between hostel and school was raised by school girls during a recent visit of state Governor Margaret Alva to tribal areas in Udaipur. |
