Dec 30,2012: Indian Council for Agricultural Research has notified the 18th All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2013) to 15% seats in Bachelor Degree Programmes (100% seats in Dairy Technology at NDRI Karnal) and award of National Talent Scholarships in Agriculture & Allied Science subjects (other than Veterinary Science) in Agricultural Universities for 2013–14.
National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile. Further, not more than 40% candidates from any one state are admitted in any agricultural university/subject.
Programmes: The Degree Programmes available for admission include 11 Bachelor Degree programmes of four years duration in (i) Agriculture (ii) Horticulture (iii) Fisheries (iv) Forestry (v) Home Science (vi) Sericulture (vii) Biotechnology (viii) Agricultural Engineering (ix) Dairy Technology (x) Food Science and (xi) Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation.
For the purpose of Entrance Examination, these 11 Degree programmes are categorized into two Streams, Stream-A (Agriculture/Biology) and Stream-B (Mathematics). A candidate can exercise option only for one Stream at the time of submitting the application. The option once exercised cannot be changed subsequently.
Stream -A (Agriculture/Biology): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor Degree programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Food Science, and Biotechnology.
Stream-B (Mathematics): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor degree programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Marketing & Co-operation and also in Forestry, Food Science and Biotechnology at some of the Agricultural Universities provided Biology has been one of the subjects during 10+2 examination.
Candidates opting for Stream-A in the entrance examination should have passed 10+2 examination enumerated above necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science subjects whereas those opting for Stream-B should have passed 10+2 examination necessarily with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

A candidate from Stream– A can also exercise option for admission to Food Science, Agricultural Marketing & Co-operation whereas candidate from Stream-B can also opt for admission in Forestry or Biotechnology in few universities.
Eligibility: Applicants should be Indian Nationals of at least 17 years of age but not more than 23 years as on 31.08.2013. Applicant should have been born between 1.9.1990 and 1.9.1996. SC/ST/PH categories will have a relaxation in upper age limit by 5 years.
Applicant must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study with last two years having Physics, Chemistry and any one of Biology/ Mathematics/Agriculture /Home Science and must have passed the examination securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC and UPS categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC, ST and PH categories. Besides, for admission in the Universities specifically located in non-Hindi speaking areas, candidate must have passed English as a core subject in 10+2 examination. Candidate having a compartment/supplementary in any of the subjects will not be eligible unless proof of having cleared the examination with requisite percentage as stipulated is made available. Those appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions and submission of evidence of having satisfied the conditions, latest by the counseling date.
Application Fees: Application fee for General/OBC/UPS applicants is Rs.500/- and it is Rs.250/- for SC/ST/PH applicants. Service Charges as applicable will also have to be paid.
Application: Application can be submitted Offline or Online.
The Information Bulletin with Application Form (Offline OMR Application) can be obtained from Registrars of Agricultural Universities or from the specified branches of Syndicate Bank on payment of the fee by way of cash. Every Information Bulletin bears a ‘booklet number’ (known as Application Number) at the bottom right hand corner which is also indicated on right side of the top and bottom of Application Form and both copies of Admit Cards. It must be ensured that the number is the same at all places. In case of any discrepancy, a correct set must be obtained from the counter.

Cell, Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Room No. 216, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi-110 012, by sending a written request (on plain paper) along with an Account Payee Bank draft of Rs.550/- General/ OBC/ UPS) or Rs.300/- (SC/ST/PH), as applicable.
Applications can also be submitted online at www.icar.org.in till 15th February, 2013 as per the instructions there. After filling the Online Application, candidate has to take a printout of computer generated confirmation page. If payment of fee is being made by cash, the applicant has to take three copies of Bank Challan and complete the payment by cash at Syndicate Bank branch.
During online filling of the form, candidate can also opt for making fee payment through Credit / Debit card using Payment Gateway of Syndicate Bank or through NEFT. Details are there in the Bulletin.
The last date of receipt of filled-in application forms/Printout in Online application (with Challan if applicable) in Examination Cell, Education Division, ICAR, KABII, Pusa, New Delhi-110 012 from candidates other than those located in remote areas is 15th February 2013 and from those located in remote areas (Please see item No. 8.1 A of Brochure) is 22nd February 2013
Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination would be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 20th April, 2013 (Saturday) at Anand, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Bikaner, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dharwad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hisar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Indore, Jabalpur, Jammu, Karnal, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mannuthy, Mohanpur, Nagpur, Palampur, Pantnagar, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Pusa, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Solan, Srinagar (Kashmir), Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi and Mathura.
The examination will be conducted in the two subject streams, Stream-A comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology and Stream B, comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Question paper will have 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, each with four options, 60 questions in Physics, serially numbered from 1-60, 60 questions in Chemistry, numbering from 61-120 and 60 questions in Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics, numbering from 121-180.
Questions for Physics and Chemistry subjects will be common for both subject streams. Paper for ‘Stream–A’ shall carry questions on Biology as well as Agriculture subject, out of which the candidate has to attempt/opt/choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. ‘Stream–B’ paper carries questions on Mathematics.
Candidate will be required to choose the correct answer and mark in the OMR answer sheet by darkening the corresponding circle/bubble against the serial number of the question with black/ blue ball-point pen. Each correctly answered question will earn four marks, with a maximum of 720 marks for the paper. For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted from the total score. Question paper for the examination shall be bilingual, in English and Hindi. Syllabus for the Examination is given at Annexure-I.
Number of ICAR seats (tentative) available for admission in Agricultural Universities through this examination in different subjects for the academic session 2013–14 are given in ANNEXURE–II of the Information Brochure. The actual seat position would be known only on the counseling date. Seats are reserved for SC/ ST/Physically Handicapped/ Other Backward Classes as per Rules. Details are given in the Brochure.
