JRF at PRL Ahemdabad

Kochi, January 30, 2013: Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahemdabad has invited applications for admission to Junior Research Fellowships in the following broad scientific areas for Year 2013-14.
  • Astronomy & Astrophysics
  • Solar Physics
  • Geosciences
  • Planetary Sciences & Exploration
  • Space and Atmospheric Sciences
  • Theoretical Physics
Eligibility criteria for applying to the JRF programme:
MSc in one of the following subjects:
(1) Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical / Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics, Ocean Sciences and Climate Sciences.
(2) The candidate must have taken Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level.
(3) A minimum of 60% marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.

Age Limit:
Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2012 (i.e., born on or after 31.12.1987).

Selection Procedure:
Performance in the written test and the latest scores in JEST / GATE / UGC-CSIR NET - JRF, if available, will be considered for qualifying for personal interview that will follow.
Those who qualify in the interview will be selected as JRFs at PRL. Candidates whose results are awaited at the time of interview will be admitted provisionally. They will be confirmed admission in PRL subject to their securing at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination i.e. MSc.

Fellowship and other relevant facilities:
Selected JRFs will be paid a fellowship of Rs.16,000/- per month which will be raised to Rs.18,000/- per month after two years, subject to a satisfactory academic review. A book grant of  Rs.7,500/- per year will be given for five years to purchase books that are relevant to the research work being carried out by the Research Fellow.

Admission to the PRL programme is through a qualifying exam followed by an interview. To apply for admission, fill the form online at http://www.prl.res.in/~recruit/jrfsrf/advt.php#apply.

Only students from remote areas who have no access to internet may send their request for application form along with a self-addressed envelope (25cm x 17 cm) super scribed by "PRL JRF 2013" to the Head Academic Services, Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad - 380009.

Last date for both postal and online submission is 28-02-2013
