Management Trainee Engineers at BPCL

Kochi, September 18, 2013: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune 500, leading Navratna Public Sector Company in the exciting and dynamic energy sector, engaged in Refining, Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum products and also in exploration of Oil / Gas, is looking for young, energetic, ambitious Graduate Engineers in the field of ‘Mechanical  Engineering’ & ‘Chemical Engineering’, for the post of ‘Management Trainee’.
Mechanical & Chemical Engineers (Mechanical, Chemical excludes Automation/Production / Mechatronics / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering etc, the above exclusions being only indicative and not exhaustive) desirous of pursuing a career with BPCL are required to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2014). Applicant has to appear for GATE 2014 Paper in Mechanical Engineering (ME) / Chemical Engineering (CH), as applicable.

Applicant should hold a full time, B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg) through AICTE/UGC approved Indian Universities / Institutes and should have passed the degree in first attempt. Integrated Courses or courses with 5 year or more course duration would not be eligible for the position. Those in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply, subject to fulfilling all the eligibility criteria in case they are short listed for interview and submitting documentary proof of having passed the degree examination with the prescribed percentage of marks.

Applicants belonging to General and OBC (Non- Creamy Layer/NCL) categories, should have secured minimum 60% marks in qualifying degree examination. SC/ST/Persons with Disability applicants need only 50%. Those in the final year of engineering studies belonging to General and OBC (NCL) categories, should have secured minimum 60% marks ( in aggregate up to last semester), relaxable to 50% for SC/ST/ PWD candidates.

Percentage of marks would be the aggregate of all semesters irrespective of the norms / system being followed in the institute/university. Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or Letter Grade is awarded, its equivalent percentage of marks must be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by University / Institute. No rounding off percentage would be allowed.

Maximum permissible age as on 1.6.2014 for General Candidates would be 25 years and for OBC (Non Creamy layer), it would be 28 years. For SC/ST, the upper age limit would be 30 years. Age relaxation of 10 years is available for PWDs with degree of disability 40% or above. For those domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989 there would be an age relaxation of 5 years. Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs & SSCOs, subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfillment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India) would get age relaxation of 5 years.

Applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC (NCL) & PWD categories will need to furnish valid caste certificates & PWD Certificates respectively as per the formats prescribed by Government of India. OBC certificate must not be more than 6 months old. For getting the benefits of reservation under OBC (NCL) category, the name of caste and community of the candidate must appear in the ’Central list of other Backward Classes’. The candidates must not belong to creamy layer.

Applicant has to first apply online for GATE 2014. For this applicant may visit http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/. The last date for enrolment for GATE 2014 (after this only enrolled candidates can fill the application) is 1st October 2013 (Tuesday) and the last date for submission of GATE 2014 online application through GATE website is 3rd October 2013 (Thursday). 

Subsequently, applicant has to apply to BPCL online, at www.bpclcareers.com.

Applicants should be Indian Nationals and must have an active e-mail id, which must remain valid for at least next one year. All future communication with the candidates will take place through e-mail only. They should have relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the degree examination, degree certificate, date of birth, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), e-mail id etc. readily available with them before they commence the online application process. This information would be required at the time of filling-in the application. Those presently employed in Central/ State Government, Autonomous bodies and PSUs must submit 'No Objection Certificate' of their employer at the time of interview failing which they will not be allowed to appear for the selection process. Candidates belonging to OBC category, but belonging to creamy layer would not be entitled to the benefit of reservation and should apply as General Category candidate.

On downloading the GATE-2014 admit card and receipt of GATE registration number, candidates need to apply online on BPCL’s website www.bpclcareers.in.

The relevant link would be made available from 20th December 2013. The last date of submission of online application to BPCL is 31st January 2014.

Applicants would require their GATE-2014 Registration Number for applying to BPCL. Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page. If the same is accepted, the system will generate a unique application ID along with the completed application form. Candidate should take a print out of completed application, affix his/her recent passport size photograph, sign at the space provided. The same will have to be submitted, in case shortlisted for further selection process. The passport size photograph affixed by the candidate should be the same submitted along with GATE-2014 application form and admit card. If the candidate is called for further selection process, his/ her identity would be verified with GATE-2014 admit card and GATE-2014 official score card.

Based on the GATE 2014 Score in Mechanical, Chemical disciplines, short-listing of candidates will be done, based on merit. Further short listing would be done based on Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. Final selection would be based on Medical Fitness in Pre Employment Medical Examination.
